Historical Background

The modern method of formal education was adopted and popularised in Ras Al Khaimah in 1955. For a decade hence, up to 1964, the RAK Knowledge Department was entrusted with the responsibility of supervising the educational system and syllabus. Thereafter, for a brief while, it came under the supervision of the Arabian Gulf and South Public Authority (related to Kuwait).

With the founding of the UAE, government education in Ras Al Khaimah, as with the other six emirates, then came under the purview of the Ministry of Education.
