Transportation in Ras Al Khaimah
The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has a modern network of roads connecting all parts of the emirate. RAK Transport Authority oversees public transport in the emirate, and develops transport policies and passenger transport, and censors them. RAK Transport Authority also oversees a number of taxi companies such as: Al Arabia, Kars, and Al Hamra, which also provides taxis for women colored in pink. Al Hamra also provides the public transport service to the people of Ras Al Khaimah across the other emirates, under the supervision and management of RAK Transport Authority.
Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is one of the main airports in the country; it is meant to serve travelers and provide the best facilities and air freight services. The airport has a range of service facilities, including a restaurant, cafeteria, VIP lounge, transit lounge, the mosque and the free market.
The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah owns RAK Airways which Ras Al Khaimah International Airport is its headquarters and operation center. RAK Airways is the fourth national airline in the country.
Ras Al Khaimah has also three ports with high-level equipments. The first port is Saqr Port, which is the main port of the emirate because of its strategic location at the entrance to the Arabian Gulf. This port receives about 1400 ships annually, and provides a variety of services and facilities in the areas of ship supply, storage, handling, loading and unloading. Another port is Al Jazeera Al Hamraa Port which has a vital location at the the entrance to the Arabian Gulf. It provides ships with fuel, water, maintenance services, freezing service for commodities and goods. Finally there is Ras Al Khaimah Port in the middle of the emirate, and receives small and medium-sized ships.
